Upcoming Professional Development Opportunity

December 17, 2020

Dear Graduate Students,

The Center for Engaged Teaching and Learning (CETL) is excited to announce the launching of a newly developed workshop series, “Spring 21: Institute for Evidence-Based Teaching Practices.”  Under the guidance of our pedagogical coaches, the workshops will be led by CETL's two Graduate Teaching Fellows, Taylor Fugere (GSA Academic Affairs Officer) and Larisa Gavrilova (GSA Climate, Diversity, and Equity Officer).

The series introduces research-based principles and practices from the book, "How Learning Works: Seven Research-based Principles for Smart Teaching," which has become an essential guide to teaching and learning. These interactive sessions provide participants with an opportunity to discuss pedagogical research, build a repertoire of strategies and best practices, and apply the principles of effective teaching.

The institute will kick-off in January and includes a series of six 75-minute sessions (via Zoom).

*** Students who attend 5 or more sessions will earn a certificate of participation. If you cannot participate in the entire series, you may still attend individual sessions that are of interest to you.  Attending any of these sessions will contribute to your professional development and boost your CV.

To best accommodate your schedule, each session will be offered at two times - Mondays 2:00-3:15pm or Tuesday 5:00-6:15pm.
